The Good Kind of Shot

It’s that time of year again. No, it’s not the highly saccharine “Holiday Season” quite yet, but the bitter acidity of the flu season is creeping up at a rapid pace. The rampant sniffle inhibitor known simply as the flu is more thoroughly defined by the Minnesota Department of Health as

“a respiratory disease caused by a virus that attacks the nose, throat, and lungs,”.

Influenza A or B invades the immune systems of millions in our country every year, typically from November through March. The flu causes all kinds of mild irritations such as dry cough, body aches, fevers, and sore throats, among a few other barely acceptable excuses to call in sick. As daunting as this all may seem to the one lucky person who hasn’t yet contracted the sneaky virus in their lifetime, there is still some shimmering hope beyond the dark paper encrusted room you and our microorganisms inhabit, not a single step further than the trusty Ol’ Anderson Center building. Flu vaccinations are being held once again on October 10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Anderson Center, Room 111. You can expect your antibodies equipped with an extra boost of armour once you arrive at 11 a.m. with your insurance information, most insurance plans are accepted, and comfortable clothing that leaves your arms easily accessible to receive your quick and simple vaccine that will leave you ready to face the rest of your day after 2 p.m., when the event ends for the day. Once you’ve received your vaccine, you can expect to face flu season with confidence knowing that you have a trick up your sleeves, or coursing through your veins rather.
