Swapping books and stories

Spectrum, Hamline’s LGBTQIA+ student organization, hosted a “gay book swap.” The event was hosted on April 6 in the Bridge Classroom on the third floor of West Hall. There was a table of books donated by a Hamline professor, ranging from “The Gay Revolution” to “Queering Families” to “Unbound: Transgender Men and the Remaking of Identity.”

Valentina Hernandez, a first-year and the Spectrum vice president, organized the event.

“It’s gone really well,” she said. “I should have known that books are the answer to everything.”

The event provided a hub for LGBTQIA+ students to socialize and talk about books and other important LGBTQIA+ topics.

“Come to Spectrum,” Hernandez said. “We have a lot of fun events and anybody of any sexuality is welcome.”

Spectrum meets once a month in the Bridge Classroom for students that are interested in getting involved.
