Piper Volleyball has been red hot going into the home stretch of the season, winning five of their last seven and some in dominant fashion. The Pipers’ recent surge has brought their overall record to 8–14 with three MIAC (Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) victories on the season.
The recent winning streak has been done in absolute dominant fashion with the Pipers losing just one set versus Macalester in the entire four game span. The recent success guaranteed a better season than last, with the program having two more victories going into the final week of the regular season.
The streak came at the right time as just before it a seven game losing streak plagued the season going from 3–6 to 3–13. Jenna Rubbelke recently tied the school record for service aces with 154. The sophomore did not break the record in the most recent match versus St. Marys, but will have two more opportunities before the season’s end.
The season kicked off with a tournament across the country in Santa Cruz, CA, allowing the program to compete against schools outside the midwest region. The tournament took place in the first weekend of September and kicked off the regular season campaign. The Pipers went 1–2 in their matches, earning the sole victory against Whitman college, winning 3–1.
The season ends on Nov. 3 versus MIAC rival College of St. Scholastica which will also honor the program’s two seniors, Hannah Davis and Julianna Boyum. They will look to keep the hot streak going into the final games of the season.
Pipers get red hot before seasons end
