The 2025 Grammys were nothing short of a spectacle, filled with iconic performances, well-deserved wins and of course, an interesting red carpet. Whether you missed it entirely or just need a recap, here is everything you need to know from music's biggest night.
Starting off with one of the most important moments before the awards: the red carpet. We had big names like Olivia Rodrigo wearing a beautiful backless dress. Cardi B in a stunning feathered gown. Doechii in a sleek suit dress that was not just a look, but a statement, embodying storytelling through fashion. Billie Eilish in a Prada suit. Gracie Abrams wearing a custom Chanel dress with a draping veil. Charli XCX in couture, and many more iconic looks that showed people's personalities through their fashion choices.
On the more unconventional, or rather rough side of the carpet, we had Chappell Roan with an interesting choice of hat that could only be described as what looks like an array of ramen noodles. Bianca Censori ironically being uncensored with her complete lack of an outfit definitely turned heads, and ultimately got her and her husband Kanye West kicked out. Jaden Smith who wore a literal castle on his head and Julia Fox who decided that bright rubber yellow gloves were the right choice. The outfits had their hits as well as flops that felt more like costume party rejects than high fashion.
Now, onto the main event—the award show. Starting with the most controversial category of the night: album of the year. Billie Eilish’s album “Hit Me Hard And Soft” was easily the most impactful album of the year, with songs that were on every social platform and playlist alike. Yet, the award went to Beyoncé for “Cowboy Carter.” Of course, we all love her, it's Beyoncé, but let's be honest. How many people can name a song off that album?
Not all was lost though. The night was especially important for a lot of women in music with many female artists winning their nominated categories. One of the night's most celebrated, and most deserved wins went to Doechii’s “Alligator Bites Never Heal” for best rap album of the year. This was incredibly moving because she became the third woman in Grammy history to win in that category which is historically male-dominated. Doechii’s performance was also captivating, only solidifying her win for many. Sabrina Carpenter also had well-earned victories, taking home two Grammys for her song “Espresso” and her album “Short n’ Sweet”.
Charli XCX took three Grammys home for her album “Brat” and pop recording of “Von Dutch”. She turned the stage into a makeshift rave when she performed her songs “Von Dutch” and “Guess” with big faces like the model of the year Alex Consani, popular influencer and model Quen Blackwell, Julia Fox and Gabriette. Let us not forget Kendrick Lamar’s wins of the night that cannot be overstated. Winning five Grammys for his viral diss track “Not Like Us” was a cultural moment.
A win I am personally grateful for that night was Taylor Swift leaving empty-handed. Perhaps the most wholesome moment of the night was spotting Olivia Rodrigo and Sabrina Carpenter hugging, officially putting their feud to rest. Now the internet can breathe, and hopefully start manifesting for the collab we have all been waiting for. From fashion statements that sparked conversations, good and bad, to unexpected wins and snubs that fueled controversy, the 2025 Grammys were nothing short of unforgettable. The night was filled with electric performances, emotional speeches and moments that had people talking even after the show ended.
As always, the Recording Academy's choices left some celebrating while others were left questioning the fairness of the system. Whether you were thrilled by the wins, disappointed by the snubs or simply there for the fun, the Grammys are always a night to remember.
