On Feb. 4, 2015, the Myth Live Event Center in Maplewood, Minnesota was jam-packed with teens and adults waiting anxiously for the United Kingdom’s hot new alternative band, Mallory Knox, to open the rock show. With their catchy hooks, heart-stopping bass line and high-energy rock sound, it was a perfect way to kick off the night. The Brits opened the show with a few of their popular songs, including “Oceans”, “Shout at the Moon” and “Ghost in the Mirror” off their second album, Asymmetry, which was released in 2014. Originating in Cambridge, England, the five-piece band consists of Mikey Chapman on vocals, Joe Savins on lead guitar, Sam Douglas on bass guitar, Dave Rawling on drums and James Gillett on rhythm guitar.

“We all were in different bands to start off. Then, when those broke up, we decided to have a jam session together. About three or four months later, we came out with our first EP, which was in 2010. It all happened very fast,” Chapman said.

Mallory Knox was first signed to Wolf At Your Door Records in 2010 and released their debut album, Signals, in 2013. By this time, the band had many hit singles including “Wake Up,” “Death Rattle” and “Beggars,” and climbed their way up the U.K.’s music charts. After the great success of their first album, the band signed to Search & Destroy Music, a label backed by Sony. Since then, the band has toured all over the U.K., playing in festivals and going on tour with the popular American hardcore band A Day to Remember.

“We don’t aim our music to anyone in specific but we do tend to attract a younger crowd. We collectively write our music; usually Sam brings the foundation and the rest add input. Some of our favorite bands influence our music. We like Slipknot, Underoath and Mumford and Sons. We try to stay old school,” Chapman said.

The band is currently on tour in the United States with hardcore bands Pierce the Veil and Sleeping with Sirens. The tour kicked off in California and is scheduled to end in Nevada, and features one other alternative band along with Mallory Knox. The band seems to be enjoying every bit of the tour.

“The United States is pretty much the same as the U.K. The food is a bit saltier and we now know that Kansas City is not in Kansas,” the band says while laughing. “Sometimes it can be a challenge to amp up a crowd when they are unfamiliar with us, but we have met some great people and the fans are great,” Chapman said.

As the band gains a larger fan base, they expect to be visiting the United States often. Mallory Knox hopes to be back in the U.S. next summer.  Check out their music on Youtube or visit http://www.malloryknox.com.
