Raising a glass to Professor Andrew Wykes

Cathryn Salis, Senior Reporter

The Drew Fine Arts lobby buzzed with new and familiar faces on March 31 for the reception of retiring Hamline professor Andrew Wykes. This was a night to celebrate the “In Perspective: A Retirement Exhibition for Professor Andrew Wykes and Digital and Studio Arts Faculty Biennial” in the Soeffker Gallery installation.

This gallery features artwork from Wykes and Hamline professors such as Allison Baker, Calee Cecconi, Josh Gumiela, Curt Lund, Richard Pelster-Wiebe and John-Mark Schlink. Student art was also displayed in the atrium of the Drew Fine Arts building. Wykes’ student’s work from a class he is instructing was also hung to be shared with viewers.

This event was open to the public. Great mingling took place between faculty, community members, supporters and students.

The Soeffker Gallery began showing this work on March 3 with it closing on March 31. The gallery was curated and installed by senior Fine Arts student Janell Hammer and Professor John-Mark Schlink.

Wykes will be retiring from Hamline at the end of this semester.
