After a four game losing streak after going 2–0 the Piper’s hosted Bethel University last weekend, and with a crowd of over 500 the seventh game of the year was underway.
The Pipers were shut out for the first time since 2022, losing 70–0 and extending their losing streak to five games. Since 2011, the Pipers have lost all 13 games against the Royals on the gridiron to headline a subpar conference resume for the program’s history.
The defense had no answers for the Royals giving up over 500 total yards on the afternoon with over 300 coming from a dominant pass attack. The Pipers defense was only able to get one fourth down stop on the day, the special teams unit still remained busy with nine punts.
The loss drops the Pipers to 2–5 with a 0–5 record in the MIAC, this has been a continuous trend as the football team has won just four conference games in the last six years.
The 2024 season will only have two more games before another forgettable season for the football program concludes. Next weekend the Pipers will travel down the road to face off against Macalester, (0–7) and then the following week will host St. Scholastica (2–5) at Klas Field.
