Hamline students will take to the dance floor once again for the annual Fireball on Friday, April 10. Hosted at the Minneapolis Lumber Exchange, students will have the opportunity to dance, socialize, take photos at a photo booth, enjoy a buffet meal and—for those over 21— a for-purchase bar.
21+ students who wish to purchase a drink at the venue will need to present a valid ID. Hamline University Programming Board (HUPB) Chair and senior Elisa Lopez advised that the venue has strict fines if individuals sneak in alcohol. If a student is caught sneaking in alcohol, they will be escorted out of the venue.
“You don’t have to try to sneak in shooters,” Lopez said. “It is very much not allowed at the venue, and there are fines if you are sneaking in liquor or any sort of drinks — so don’t.”
In addition to drinks, there are multiple appetizers, entrees and dessert options — with options for vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and halal dietary restrictions — that are included in your ticket.
Transportation is available to and from the venue free of charge. Buses will leave from the Bishop statue every 20 minutes beginning at 6:30 p.m. At the end of the night, there will also be light food options available at Klas on a first come first serve basis.
Lopez looks forward to the venue, with space for yard games and breathing room in a lounge. Do not miss the giveaways as you leave, either to serve as a reminder of this memorable night.
“We are really trying to make sure people have a way to remember it and have fun and engage with Fireball outside of just taking pictures and dancing … It is also a much larger space than we’ve ever really worked in, which means that there’s a lot more room for new activities,” Lopez said.
All in all, Fireball is a dance. This is a time to socialize, have fun with your peers and let loose as students prepare to head into the home stretch of the semester. Lopez is excited for the fun of the night.
“Any Fireball, for me, I love dancing and I love dancing with all my friends and all the random people that I see,” Lopez said.
